We want everyone who visits Halfords.com to have a positive experience. That’s why we’re committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, including those with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments.
Compliance status
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard and use both automated and manual testing to monitor progress.
Our most visited pages have been audited by the Digital Accessibility Centre (DAC) and are regularly checked by our internal teams.
All elements of our site are being reviewed and updated using an accessibility checklist and tools to ensure our website is AA compliant or better; plus working with our suppliers. This checklist follows the WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria. Here are some of the different areas we cover:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
While we aim to meet current accessibility standards, we are aware that there are some areas of the website that may not yet fully comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
We are actively reviewing and addressing these as part of our continuous improvement efforts. This includes resolving issues identified through external audits and internal testing.
The areas non-compliance, with fixes in progress, includes:

- Forms and inputs: to improve form labels, standardise controls, and add clear instructions for easier use.
- Page structure, headings, and layout: to fix heading structure, page titles, and text layout to support clear reading and resizing.
- Colour, contrast, and interaction: to improve colour contrast, clear focus indicators, and cues beyond colour to make interaction easier for all users.
- Images, links, and ARIA: add meaningful alt text, clear link descriptions, and correct ARIA use to improve understanding and feedback for all users.
